M. Kay's Story
I currently live in Punta Gorda, Florida. It is about 45 minutes north of Fort Myers. I have lived here for since 2008. It is a sleepy town in the off season which means the locals can actually go out to eat and not wait an hour and a half to be seated!! There are many beaches very close. My favorite is Seista Keys It is rated #1 nationally. It is like being in the tropics. I don't drive but 3 minutes and I am over water. It is a breath taking sight to see. The sun shining on the water looks like "diamonds on the water." It is so different from Ohio because of all the sunshine. I have been blessed to not have any hurricanes since I have been down here. The worst ones have hit the eastern seaboard around North/South Carolina then on up into New Jersy, Washington D.C., New York and clear into Vermont. This last one September 2010 hit Vermont the hardest. It's been devastation for those people.
I have two wonderful children. Amanda, 35, a mother of a 14 year old son named Ethan. Her husband is Seth Lloyd and they are expecting another child in March 2012. Talk about a huge difference in age but they will do fine. She and Seth make wonderful parents. Amand...Expand for more
a works at "A Different Angle" in Canton as a hair dresser. My son, Scott, 32. He is a general manager for JB Hunt Company. They have a son, Eliot "Eli" and his wife Stacy have been married for 6 years. My children and grandchildren are my life. I fly to Ohio as often as possbile to visit my family. I moved to Florida because of the nice weather although it was a difficult decision to make especially while my parents were still lviing. Healthwise the warm weather works so much better for me.
Dancing With the Stars is my favorite TV show however the Ohio State Buckeyes beats everything! I am a huge Buckeye fan. I bleed scarlet and gray. Thank golly there are so many Ohio people down here and Michigan, also. When we see each other in the parking lot or in a store we quietly rib each other. The Ohio people start the O-H then you hear the I-O back.
I am truly happy with my life where I am now and what I am doing. I am dating and have a great circle of friends that keeps on growing. The nce thing about Florida is everything is so casual and people go in groups. Whether it be to happy hours to invited onto someone's boat.
That's my retired life in a nutshell.
