Jacksone's Story

I've never been one for blogging so I'll try to just touch on the main points. I lived in Miami and Miami Beach, Florida for most of my life. Attended Treasure Island Elementary for one summer and then moved on to North Beach Elementary, Nautilus Jr. High, and Miami Beach Senior High School. The little I saw of Treasure Island Elementary I liked, I loved North Beach Elementary, HATED Nautilus Jr. High (which eventually became known as Nautilus Middle School. I thought Nautilus Jr. High was a much better name), and I liked certain parts of Miami Beach Senior High even though my senior year was quite a busy one. After graduating I made the mistake of rushing into College instead of taking some time off. So, my college years were spent working and going to school. But all of the hard work I was putting in wasn't really leading me anywhere. I was pretty much floating around aimlessly for a while. At the time, the job market in Miami just flat out SUCKED!...Expand for more
I knew people with college degrees that were stuck working as security guards for low-rent (cheap!) security companies. When I saw that, I knew that, despite my deep roots in South Florida I had to look towards the future, elsewhere. So, when the opportunity came to move up to New York, I couldn't pass it up! A few weeks later, all of my sh!t was packed up and we were on the road, heading north. Lived in New York for a little while and then moved to New Jersey (which is basically the same thing, don't let anyone tell you different! It's like trying to differentiate between North Miami and North Miami Beach, same crap, different zip code!). I basically live in New Jersey and work in New York (Manhattan). I work in the legal field, and even though the legal field would have never made it into my top 5 choices of work fields, it pays the bills, and is a nice change of pace from the seemingly non-stop deadend jobs I was inundated with back "home" ;).
