Life
Now Living in MA, no longer working for Digital/Compaq Computers as an Engineering Manager due layoffs that forced me to early retirement, but that doesn't mean that I'm not looking for a new job. Went back to school during the past two years as the job hunt has not provided me with any success. I completed my studies and obtained an MBA in 2003. Still lacking a job I decided to try my hand at substitute teaching in 2004 and completed 56 assignments (about 3.5 days per week) from Kindergarten through grade 12 in all the Marlborough public schools. I can say that I found it was quite a challenge to get a phone call first thing in the morning, setting off to an assignment and once there trying to fill in and keep the class on their schedule and do this in a different classroom, grade and even school each day. Having only obtained a few temporary jobs during this summer and with school back in session, I'm back to the substitute role again. A little note here, not that jobs are tough but of the 4 temps showing up for a more or less clerical positions for an MCAST project, 3 of us came in with Masters degrees and 1 with a PHD.
College
Well hav...Expand for more
ing attended Boston University, NorthEastern University, UCLA, I finally stuck to it and got my masters degree from California Coast University. I got my Masters in 2003 at age 58 proving it's never too late and also you can teach an old dog new tricks.
In 2006 went back to BU and got a Project Management Certificate so I can be even more over qualified for jobs I am applying for.
Military
Right after High School I joined the US Air Force and went to boot camp at Lackland AFB in San Antonio Texas, then spent the next year plus in Technical School studding Electronics and Basic Computers Kessler AFB in the wonderful town of Biloxi Mississippi. This was an interesting place for a Yankee to be stationed in the early sixties. Although after having purchased a BSR motorcycle I did spend many a pleasant day off traveling along route 90 visiting Gulfport and Pascagoula. After completing basic computer training I was assigned my first permanent duty base at Gunter AFB in Montgomery Alabama (boy just couldnÂt get out of the South). The rest of my hitch was spent working on the worlds largest (size not power) computer the AN/FSQ-7 made by MIT and IBM.
