James's Story

After Sonora: Worked for a year, various jobs, part time at Fullerton College, then moved to Oregon. BS in Biology, Pacific Univ., Forest Grove Oregon, 1978 PhD in Genetics, Iowa State University, 1978-1982 Postdoctoral researcher, Univ. of Utah, Dept. of Cell, Viral, Molecular Biology, 1982-1985 Postdoc/Research Assistant Professor, Waksman Institute, Rutgers Univ., New Jersey, 1985-1988 Progressed through Assistant, Associate, Full Profes...Expand for more
sor, Dept. of Biological Sciences, Univ. of Buffalo, 1988-present Run a research lab that studies plant biology, photosynthesis, plant molecular, cell, and developmental biology. Teach Genetics lab, Developmental Biology Lab and Lecture, sometimes a special topics course on RNA biology. Currently live in Western New York, in an old house on the Erie Canal, with my wife and teenage son, and a lot of pets. Nowhere near ready for retirement.
