James's Story
At the end of my junior year of high school (1984) my family moved from Canton to Glens Falls, N.Y. At the time, I didn't think it was a big deal moving a year before graduating from high school. In hindsight, it sucked. Thankfully, I was pretty good at sports which helped tremendously. My biggest regret is not being able to play soccer my senior year at Canton. I remember sitting in the stands in Albany watching us (Canton) play in the state finals and wishing I could be on the field with everyone (Mark, Pete, Matt, Durocher, Pete, etc.). It was tough watching that loss and the foreign exchange student from England(?)score repeatedly.
Anyway, I'll speed it up now...
Graduated from high school. Went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Graduated from RPI went to law school at Duke. Graduated from law school and took a job with a big law firm in Los Angeles. Moved to Chicago in 1994 to be with my future (now current) wife Chris-- who I met in law school. Practiced law in Chicago for a couple years. e also playing. Jordan called a foul to "save face," but after the game admitted that I got him clean and said "you know I had to call that foul, right?" as he smiled broadly. Flavor Flav guarded me during the game-- I totally schooled him-- long story).
In any event, while in Chicago I started writing screenplays for feature movies. Moved back out to L.A. and Seattle to write. Optioned a couple scripts, but never had one filmed. They died in "development hell." Kind of frustrating because they would've made good movies. I'll probably resurrect them at some point.
When my wife got pregnant we moved to South Florida where her mom, dad and sisters live so we could be closer to family. We now have two girls-- Emma (born in 2002) and London (born in 2004). They are smart, precious and absolutely beautiful. I credit my wife, who's 100% Czech, for their looks and brains. I practice law in West Palm Beach, Florida, as a commercial litigator with a firm called FitzGerald, Mayans & Cook.
Our latest venture is producing an independent feature film called .30/06 (thirty-ought-six). It's a suspense thriller set in the Adirondack mountains during hunting season.
