James (Jim)'s Story
Life
After leaving Jordan I spent a semester at LBCC then joined the Marine Corps. I got out in Jan 65 and went back to LBCC and then Cal. State- Long beach, finally graduating in 1971 with a degree in chemistry. I married Coni Roberts (class of 63) in 1966 and remain married to her today. We have one child, David, and two grandsons, Cody (8) and Colin (4) and a granddaughter, Lexi. I also have a daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter who live in Koge, Denmark.
I spent my career working in the environmental, health and safety arena, a career that has been quite rewarding in many ways. We have lived on three continents and four different countries, something that we treasure. Up until 2007 I worked for an international engineering/construction company (Aker Kvaerner) and traveled extensively worldwide for my job (...Expand for more
working in over 30 countries on six continents). My final position was Worldwide Director, Environmental, Health, Safety & Quality for the mining and mineral processing division.
On a lark I went back to school where I received a Master's degree in Leadership from Saint Mary's college in August 2006 and then established my own consulting company at the beginning of 2006.
This year is the year I am finally retired form professional work. I now use me energies to help others in out local communities. I serve on a number of advisory council and committees for Danville and Contra Costa County. I still enjoy sports cars (and am currently rebuilding a replica of a 1957 Porsche Speedster), fishing, acting as volunteering to help others, practicing Qi Gong, Tai Chi Chih and teaching cane self-defense. Life is good.
