James's Story
My story in 300 words or less (try not to yawn). After graduation I went to CSM for two years while learning to fly, I then transferred to the University of Southern California where I earned a BA in Political Science and a commission through Air Force ROTC. I spent four years on active duty, starting in Georgia where I went to Undergraduate Pilot Training and met and married my wife. After transitioning to C-130s at Little Rock, AR, we went to Newport News. VA, and then Tacoma, WA. In '76 the Air Force discovered they had too many pilots and not enough money and began pushing "early out" options. oved to Las Vegas and we've been in southern Nevada ever since.
By the turn of the century, the kids were grown and long gone, so in '04 I retired. These days, we do some traveling (although the lure of traveling loses fades somewhat when you spend 32 years on the road), fish a bit, and hone our Spanish by watching Telenovelas (do not laugh, they're a hoot!). When asked, I build flight dynamics packages on my computer for an outfit called Golden Age Simulations, which creates vintage airplanes for flight simulation games. I still read a lot of history and political science (and murder mysteries, science fiction, and westerns ), and occasionally I send letters to my elected representatives, so far without apparent result. In sum, life is great!
