James's Story
Life
I retired from Auburn University in Alabama and moved to Overland Park, KS at the beginning of 2021. I have been married for 50+ years to the same woman, Chris and we have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Over the years we have lived in NY, SC, TN, MA, MO, AL, and now KS. After college I traveled in Eastern Europe working freelance in the marketing and sales area. t name came from? Ask me, I'll tell you) I disembarked in Ecuador and made a very good living in the Galapagos Islands collecting iguana dung and converting it to fuel and fertilizer. Returning to the US, I discovered the one talent that I have always been good at--being a student. Emerging with a doctorate in counseling and educational psychology I have worked in higher education ever since. Not as exciting as my previous work, but certainly safer, cleaner, and warmer (and you don't have to eat Yak meat, although I've had to wonder at a couple of restaurants that I've eaten in recently.). Now comfortably retired outside of Kansas City, I have been enjoying BBQ, beer, golf, and regular travel to Estonia where I teach a grad course every March (although as a result of the pandemic, I have taught online in 2021 and will do so again in 2022).
