James's Story
Although I attended Washington only in my senior year, 1983-1984, it was by far my most enjoyable high school experience. I attended Nicolet in Glendale in 9th and 10th grades and Pulaski in Milwaukee in 11th. I am proud to be a Washington graduate. A year after graduation I joined the Milwaukee Police Department as a police aide, rising to the second-in-command rank of Assistant Chief of Police in 2008 and continuing in that capacity today. Although eligible to retire for about three years now, I enjoy serving our city as a member of the police force.

spending over two years on the advisory board of the School of Law, Education, and Public Service, which was a small high school housed within the Washington campus. Being a member of the advisory board allowed me the opportunity to interact with students and parents in a positive way.
Eight years after graduating from Washington I meet Gina Hasmuk, a fellow '84 graduate. We did not know each other in school, but discovered we had lived very close to each other and interacted with some of the same neighborhood kids growing up. It's a small world. We were married in 1994 and have two daughters, a high school freshman and a 2nd grader. Gina spent many years in the business world in finance and banking before making a career change. She has been a substitute school teacher for several years now working in a number of suburban school districts.
