James's Story

Joined the Navy out of High School and after that bought a house in Spanaway. Lived there for three years and then moved around a bit. At one time I had three houses in and around the Tacoma/Puyallup area but that got to be too much to handle. I still have my first house and one other that we live in on Lake Holiday on the Peninsula. I am married to a wonderful woman and we still have one child at home. I still play music on a semi-pro basis and host an open mic night on Wed. nights in Port Orchard, Wa.. I ride my Harley FLTUCI quite a bit. I still scuba dive when my lousy back permits, ( which I retired because of in 2000). I have a great little rock-n-roll group and we play everything from country rock to Motown to newer Indie style stuff. I also write and record my own stuff quite a bit. I must say that I had a blast in High School and would love to do it all over again. Lately I have been re-connecting with old friends and old loves and so far have had great results. It's nice to see your old friends and see what's been happening in their lives. Some haven't changed at all, except add a little aging and some you don't even recognize. Life sure takes it different tolls on people. Anyway, everyone that remembers me, good or bad, drop me a line and let me know how you've been. I am still seeking Y'vonne LeRoy from Puyallup. Haven't had any luck so far so anyone knowing of her whereabouts please let me know. She was a great friend. Well, it's about time to update, so here goes. I am now divorced from the woman I thought was so wonderful. It turned out she was wonderful as long as it was all her way, now she's down the highway. I can't be around anyone I can't trust. Got rid of the house on the Peninsula and am living in Sumner by myself now. I am finally getting some sanity back in my life, (not that I ever really had any in the first place) and am better off back near my hometown. I still play music, just not all the time with a band. Now I do it for me although I do miss the limelight once in awhile. Who knows, there may be another version of a band somewhere in the future. Since last I wrote I have been in contact with several old friends from school and things are going fine. I have 3 new grandchildren, Jacob who is 2 1/2, Miranda Jo who is the same age as Jacob and Hannah True who is only a few months now. Life is great for Grandpa. I love my grandkids! I am thinking about making a move in the spring to some better climates. Maybe Arizona or Florida. One of my best friends lives in Pensicola and has been trying to get me to move there for the past few years. He's more of a brother than just a friend and we rode together (Harleys) for quite awhile before he moved. Everyone says it's perfect for retired people because of it's low cost of living so maybe. To all my old friends, ( yeah you know who you are) ...Expand for more
drop me a line sometime. I'd love to talk with you. Signing off for now. In 10 years, I hope to be alive and kicking. I'm going to get there by staying mellow. Well, here goes another update; I finally found Vonne LeRoy an she's been living in the Marysville/Arlington area for a long time now. She has two grown sons and has been happly married for over thirty years now. I cannot tell you how happy I am for her. It's so nice to hear that special friends have made it good after all these years. Like I said, I am now divorced and living by myself in Sumner now. Life sure takes unexpected turns when you're not paying attention to what is going on. On a good note, my best friend in High School and junior high and I are hanging out again. It feels so good to know that we are still great friends and we do stuff together sometimes, which I am enjoying thouroughly. You know who you are Ken. My old High School Sweeheart, Christine Barlow and I are great friends again too. We met up again after more than 40 years and spend time with each other again. It's been so good knowing her again and I still feel as if we never parted. Life is funny. We took completely different paths in our lives only to meet again after all these years. Thank you for being you Chris, I love ya! She has two wonderful sons and granchildren. I have met one of her grandchildren and even gave him a guitar lesson. I am hoping he wants to continue that one day. Music has been very good to me and I feel as if I need to give back some and teaching would be a great way to do so. On a sadder note though, I have ben diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer and it's in it's secondary stages. The Dr's give me a 50/50 chance for a complete recovery but so far I have refused Chemo. I've seen what it does to friends and others alike and want no part of it. I am taking medications by mouth and may have the pellets(radioactive isotopes) surgically implanted later on but for now I am trusting in The Good Lord for helping this matter. I am a fighter so I believe I will be around for while longer. Those of you who know me know that I don't give up easily so I will fight this. I am going to 3 - 40 year reunions this year. Those of you that know me know I moved around alot and attended 3 different highschools so I have to go to 3 reunions. I was invited to 3 anyway and will try to attend all of them. I had tried, with the help of Carol beck from Washington High School to put something together for classmates around 3 years ago but didn't get a good response from people, now Washington is having an official reunion and I will be there. I had friends in all 3 schools so it will be nice to see old friends and even some that weren't such good friends too. Anyway, that's bout all for now but I will update to let everyone know how I am doing in my personal war with cancer. Cya later!
