Jim's Story

Married my high school sweetheart and divorced 16 years later She has since passed. We have 2 grown daughters and a grandson and 3 granddaughter.Completed an apprenticeship in the Boiler Shop at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Promoted to Shop Foreman in the Nuclear Dept. and in '87 transferred to SUPSHIP PORTSMOUTH as a Ship Surveyor. (SUPSHIP contracts private yards for repairs on Navy ships). Retired from SUPSHIP in 2005. Joined the Army Reserves out of high school. Completed Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA. and retired after 26 years at the rank of Major. Met the love of my life Linda, at Ft. Bragg,NC. I was a Basic Training Company Commander and she was an Army Nurse from Brooklyn, NY. We've been married for over 20 years. We designed and built our dream home in Moyock, NC. 10 years + ago, I started a saw sharpening business that I work from my garage.Also do mobile knife sharpening for...Expand for more
over 15 restaurants in SE VA and NE NC. Blackwater USA and Taylors Do It Centers are a couple of my accounts. I do have a Class A CDL and drive 18 wheelers and dump trucks part time for a few local farmers. I also move new cars from dealership to dealership from time to time, it's called a DX driver. My wife and I are avid saltwater fisherman and fish a lot in the Chesapeake Bay. We belong to several fishing clubs and we fish in 3 invitational surf fishing tournaments on the Outer Banks each fall. We are both certified Master BBQ Judges with the Kansas City BBQ Society and travel the East Coast tasting/judging the best of the best BBQ. I have designed and built my own BBQ cookers and I cook for hire and for charitable events. We host and I make BBQ once a year for a few old friends and family. Every year a few more people make the 'List'and get an invite. 110 showed up last time. Life is good!

Omelets anyone? This resort had about 1/2 doz restaurants on-site. One breakfast buffet...We ate there every morning.

Dessert came in a huge book...  Four small samples...Don't ask what it is... I didn't know even after they told us, it was good though.

Today was 'mulch day'  on the 'farm'. They wanted to help and Landon worked hard while his sister Renee supervised. I asked him if he was ready for nap " Too late for a nap, we've got work to do" That's my boy!
