Voted as class clown in high school, and possessing an innate ability to mingle with people, seem to be a proper breading ground for a vocation in sales.
Graduating in 1976 from Wide World Ministries Bible College in Fort Worth, TX, I married, and moved to WV. I was introduced to selling insurance by a church member and the day that Elvis Presley died in August 1977, I was traveling on interstate 79 to sales school in Charleston, WV. e houses, shot guns behind the doors and snuff running down the cheeks, seem to be a good reason for me to quit. I called by wife with a crank community phone that was in the lobby of the hotel. It was a party line for all to hear. I tried to quit that door to door cold calling for 17 years, but I was good at it. I like people and they liked me. In 1994 I went independent and represented many insurance companies that offered life, health, long-term care and Medicare Supplement insurance.
My insurance motto is, "Serving God, One Client at a Time!
Yes, people buy from those they like and I am still at it today, with a slower pace.
