James (Jim) Stevens:  

Life Left school at the beginning of my senior year to join the Army. Served for 11 years as a Special Forces/Special Ops Recondo (LRRP) and combat intelligence specialist. I left the Army and became a professional underwater Master Diver working on underwater cutting and welding jobs. By age 33, I had been around the world twice. But at age 34, I decided to start college. I graduated in 4 years with 2 degrees, Magna Cum Laud in both. Two days after graduation, I was hired as a full time professor at the University of Colorado War wounds from Vietnam came back to haunt me, taking most of my eyesight. I retired from the University and am now a professional artist and writer. I also study martial arts. Currently a Shodan (black belt) in both Shaolin Kempo and Taekwondo. I am the only legally blind man to ever win the men's fighting championship at the Rocky Mountain Martial Arts Tournament of Champions. Married and divorced 5 times, but always awarded custody of my kids. Can't seem to keep a wife, but always kept my kids. I have four girls and one boy. They were a handful to raise but they are all good kids and doing well. As a professional artist, my work is collected internationally in both private and public collections. I have two books published by the Schiffer Publishing Company about art: "Scrimshaw Techniques" and "Advanced Scrimshaw Techniques." I am currently under contract for a third book.
