James's Story

Life I married Delana, my beautiful wife from San Antonio, in 1988. We met at Howard Payne Univ. We have 3 boys: Josh90, Jake92, Jordan94 born is those years. We have a black lab named Katy who is 6 years old. We enjoy adventure and exploring as a family. We like water sports and swim often. We have now lived in 4 different countries and travelled to over 20 countries together. Everywhere we go, we like to meet people of different cultures and learn about their lives. We all like to help people improve their lives by sharing skills with them and teaching them ways they can improve their livelihood. We love to worship God, sing praise songs, and learn new things from the Bible. We enjoyed the American way of life for many years: our House, our land, 3 cars, a good job, and lots of stuff but it was not completely satisfying. So we sold our house and cars, and I quit my job to move overseas and to help others. Life is much more fullfilling. God has purposes for each of our lives and we have found what that is for this point in time and we love it. School If I could redo life, I guess I would still go to Alvin High because that led to where I am in life now. I am very happy with the life I am living and the blessings of my family, friends, activities, and work. Life was meaningless for the first 23 years of my life but now it is full of meaning and purpose. I enjoyed my growing up years in many ways but I always lacked purpose and feared the unknown, especially death. I did not enter into a relationship with Jesus until I was 23 years old. I would have done that at a much earlier age if I could redo it but I can't, so I am joyful that I know Him now. I have peace in my heart and I know where I will spend etern...Expand for more
ity now and have for the last 20 years. When I gave my life to Jesus, I found peace, purpose, and passion for living. If I would have had that in High School, I would have lived different and approached relationships differently. I hope this is interesting to you but if not, jump on over to another section. I could not tell you about my life without telling you about this, it is who I am. College I worked 2 years after Alvin High and raced cars, then went to ACC 2 years. I continued Drag Racing and worked 2 more years until 1986. Then I went to Howard Payne University and had a great experience at that private University. I made many close friends there and met my wife before Graduating in 1989. We went to Dallas from 1990-92 to do some Masters studies and we started our family there. That was it for college, 6 years was enough. Workplace As I mentioned in other places, I had no purpose in life when I graduated in 81. I worked as an Electrician, Machinist, Mechanic, Oil Field purchasing agent, self employed, and in a few other jobs. After finishing college in 92, I worked for Dell Computer for 4 years in Hardware support, and then as a Network Administrator for a Thompson company for 3 years. While doing those jobs we stayed busy volunteering in church work and projects to help people. Now we work full time in Humanitarian Development work. Military I thought about it a few times. I even talked to a recruiter once but never went through with it. Bottom line was I just was not willing to give up my personal freedom and to be owned by the US Services. Had the US been threatened by a major invasion, I would have jumped right in there with others to defend our country. I love marksmanship and hunting.
