James Washington:  

eer: First the Volunteer Training Unit (VTU), then NR COMSEUR 106, and ultimately NR COMSUBGRUTEN DET 1, all located in the Washington, D.C. area. Handling various duties and responsibilities that primarily consisted of Law Enforcement/Physical Security and administrative duties, this coincided with his civilian occupation in law enforcement as a Prince George's County Police officer, and then Chief of Police at Bethesda Naval Medical Center. During this time, there were numerous awards, recognition and promotions; from OS1, OSC (E-7), OSCS (E-8), ENS (O-1E) (6495/ Law Enforcement-Physical Security) via the LDO program in MAR00, to LTJG (O-2E). He remained a SELRES until being recalled to active duty in DEC02. Recalled to active duty as a Reserve Officer Recruiter, he was assigned to former NAVAL RESERVE AREA NORTHEAST. While there, amongst other awards, recognition and a promotion to LT (O-3E), he was recognized as the command's Division Officer of the Year for FY 04. Due to realignment, LT was transferred to NRD PHILADELPHIA in OCT04. While there, he performed a six month Temporary Duty Assignment to Cuba and the Pentagon. He was also recognized as the National Diversity Officer Recruiter of the Year (RC) FY 05. In APR06, LT Washington was assigned to NRD RICHMOND, due to command realignment. In OCT06, he was selected for conversion to the 1687 designator (Recruiter, Full Time Support). DEC06 obtained his BA degree in Human Resource from Excelsior College, to later convert to the 1207 designator (Human Resource, FTS). JAN07 reported to NRD MICHIGAN as the Enlisted Programs Officer, and becoming part of the team that was ranked #1 in the nation and NRD of the Year FY07. He later performed as the Officer Programs Officer before transferring, in preparation to assume duties at NOSC Cheyenne in Wyoming as the Commanding Officer, which occurred 16 MAY 2009.
