James's Story
Life
Hello all; I can say that after Graduation, I wasn't exemplary in my abilities to over-come heavy drug use. Frankly, I scared a lot of friends and family. I didn't really have any major goals, except for that next fix. I am so glad that time in my life is over now. In the last 20+ years I have fumbled, just barely getting by. It wasn't until '91 where I got my stuff together and moved to Los Angeles. I really enjoied the big city life, so many places to go and see. One of my favorite places to go was the Walk of Fame. I lived in Los Angeles for nearly 6 years. In '97, a really good friend moved to LA, four months later we moved to Cadillac, Michigan. Talk about culture shock--big city to practically nowheresville. It was here that I did things that I thought I would never do. I went to work for a Horn Factory (FIAMM), which they are based out of Italy. I had major dreams of moving there to work and live among a very different culture. It didn't pan out. During this time I was able to buy a huge house. Let's just say that I bit off more than I could chew. 1 1/2 years later, the house foreclosed. I had come to realize that I was living beyond my needs. It's just turning a new year 2001 and I was working in another factory, making car parts. Cons...Expand for more
idering the car industry wasn't what used to be, the company went into a major indefinate layoff. It would be about this time that I met Paul...One thing led to another and we started going out...I fell in love...and I really wanted to work out...it did...we talked about moving to where it was warmer and the job market was flourishing...Florida...is where my really good friend that I talked about earlier, moved to a year before we did. OMG it's so beautiful and warm. It's now 2002 and I begin to work for Wal*Mart, shortly after Paul joined me at Wal*Mart. As we most know there are Hurricanes that like Florida. 2 years without a problem, and then 2004/05 Hurricane seasons hit and devistation found it's ugly head REAL CLOSE to where we were living. I am very glad that 2006 was a quiet year. Paul and I talked about moving back to Michigan. 5 months ago we took ourselves out of the Florida equation and moved to Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. Where is that, you ask...minutes from the Canadian Border. In October 2009 Paul & I visited my parents in San Diego and revisited El Cajon, San Diego...considering to move back, we shall see. It's now 2010 and Paul and I are very much still together and very happy. I still work for Wal*Mart, as a Customer Service Manager.
