James's Story
I went to college after high school. Left at the end of freshman year. Joined the USAF. Married my HS sweetheart. Served three years in the USAF as an avionics instructor at Lowry AFB in Denver teaching people how to operate the bombing and missile systems on the A7-D fighter plane. I also earned my pilot's license while in the Air Force.
Left the USAF in 1973 and went to work for Control Data Corporation as a baby sitter for super computers at NOAA. Was granted a very high-level security clearance and transferred to DoD in 1974. Went back to the University of Maryland at night and picked up my studies toward a bachelor's degree. Left CDC and went to work for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). My wife had a child who died very shortly after birth. Became a supervisor. Began travelling the world supporting the US Government.
My wife had a second child, who today is a practicing psychologist in Maryland and is the apple of my eye.
My HS sweetheart wife and I divorced in 1979. I began drinking excessively. Continued to travel and get promoted.
I remarried in 1980 and finally finished my BS degree. Made the Dean's List my final semester.
Continued to progress through the ranks at DEC.

remained so.
I left DEC in 1993 and started my own business and four years later I was divorced and totally broke.
Became involved with a woman in 1994 and wound up getting engaged four years later on Bali in Indonesia. I was working for IKON Technology Services as a Director.
I left IKON due to a serious difference of opinion with my boss. Sold cars and managed the admin in a disfunctional furniture store in Columbia, MD. A year later my fiance and I were through and I was so broke that I had to move in with a buddy.
Took a job with NAID a small consulting firm. Spent three years managing part of a nationwide computer development project for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Spent most of that time out west in Indian Country.
Managed tave over $100,000 while living with my buddy and living on expenses due to travel of approx 90%. Used the money to buy 7 acres and build a house in Southern Maryland. Married my current wife, rose to Vice President of Business Development.
I now work for another small consulting firm as a management consultant supporting the Department of Defense.
My wife and I sold the Southern Maryland house and built one in Baltimore, Hampden, to be exact, Hon.
That's where I am today.
