James's Story
Man, I read some of the other profiles on here and I think to myself, OMG, what did you do with your life? To be honest, it has always been a struggle. Battled alchol and drugs a large portion of it. Menial jobs which paid the bills and that is about it. Been in all 50 states and that is it for travel. Job I had the longest was selling Lucky Dogs down in New Orleans off and on for 20 years. Didn't make a lot of bucks, but did have fun. The last 10 years have been spent trying to cope with COPD. Am on oxygen at night, but get around pretty good by day. I'm working on my 4th marriage, a former classmate from Sheldon Jackson High School, Carrita whom I reconnected with through classmates.com. I think that I may be working harder this time around because it has lasted the longest almost 7 years and it seems like we just got married. Have 3 daughters by my first marriage and have just last year gotten in contact with after close to 30 years. Found out I have numerous grand children. Between my wife and I we have 15, plus as I write this May 4, 2009, we have one daughter in labor and another they are going to induce labor on today. Updat...Expand for more
e on that, have to lovely grand-daughters, Lena Eileen Bakken and Saraya Faith Hughes. All and all when I look back on my life, I am not all disappointed, I made some bad decisions, I paid the cost, but I did what I wanted to do. I would look forward to hearing from any one that remembers me. I always felt that I blended well with the walls. Or was that into the wall. Lol. Service time was the Navy, tracking soviet subs. Worked as a sideshow barker on a circus, ran kiddie rides on a carnival, can wash a pretty mean dish, truck parts man, dock worker for truckline, janitor, assembly line with an electronics firm, Gardener and landscaper back at the old Country Club Centre on Watt. Worked a season at the Campbell Soup Company for fun, but the money was fairly good too. Sold flowers in the French Quarter in New Orleans, worked construction or should I say destruction, can't build anything, but sure can tear it apart so others can build. That's my life and I'm sticking to it. Write if you would like. Despite all the problems, wasted energy and days where all you did was chase your tail, I'SNT LIFE A GRAND THING TO BE ENJOYED AND LOVED.
