James's Story

Life I was a loud nerdy type while going to high school. I loved to yell and lead the cheering in the student section at the football games. I chased after a lot more girls than chased after me. Well, maybe they weren't chasing me, but if I ran backwards fast enough it looked like it! I graduated in 1975, but did everythig I could to hang around the school because that's where all my friends were. I went to work in the Spring Branch Media Center where I worked in the print shop for 2 years. A year before I left they hired this very quiet and shy girl named Penny Anders, (SBSH Class of 77). She made the mistake of saying hi to me and smiling which was a sure sign she was crazy about me. I was in love. A year later we got married and a year later my son was born. That was 42 years ago and I am very bless still to be married to this wonderful Christian woman and have a son we are very proud of. My son is an artist, but when he was 16 discovered that Dad had taken Tae Kwon-Do. I never got that far in my training, but only 4 years after my son started he was a black Belt, an instructor, and won first place in the Texas competition. He still works out every day and when he is over visiting he will s...Expand for more
it on the floor watching TV and casually scratch the back of his head with his foot...OUCH! I keep in shape too by lifting weights. I use light weights, but I do a lot of reps. The weight is about one ounce because that is about how much Blue Bell ice cream will fit in a spoon. :) In school I had a white over blue 66 Chevelle SS with a gas guzzeling, 5 mpg, 396 engine that was a real attention getter. In fact, I must have been some sort of a celebrity because I got attention from law enforcement who constantly stopped me just to ask for my autograph. I hate to brag, but Spring Valley Police liked me so much they often invited me over for regular visits to their town hall to meet their judge, but nothing ever came of it and I always seem to lose money on the deals we made. Yes, few can be as fortunate as I have been in life. I'll add more later. In school I was blessed to have two of the best friends a guy could ever have. One was Natalie Williams (Class of 75) who was the little sister I never had, and the other was Joe Strong (Class of 77) who always stood by me and backed me up without asking. I was an only child, but if I could have picked out a brother and sister, these would have been them.
