James's Story
Hello! Many years have elapsed since Central High in Nashville. My nickname at Central was 'Jimmy' but now my handle is 'Jim' or just James.
I was lucky enough to attend Vanderbilt University for undergrad work and later Duke University for graduate efforts. I met my wife while we were attending Vandy and later we married before grad work at Duke.
My electrical engineering work career was in the Dallas/Fort Worth area between 1969-1999 with Texas Instruments (28 years) and Raytheon. In 1997 Raytheon purchased the work unit in which I worked so officially my retirement is from Raytheon.
During my career I had the opportunity to extensively ...Expand for more
travel for both business and pleasure. Hence, in retirement I would rather not board another jet plane just for the heck of it.
Upon retirement 1999 I returned to Tennessee and live near Cookeville, TN. My advocation in retirement is designing loudspeakers. All designs are freely shared with other DIYs throughout the world. This work keeps me busy and cultivates my engineering background. I had an adjunct professor relationship with Tennessee Tech University for a few years of my retirement.
Other activities include photography, regional travel, reading, walking, dining out, and such.
I would love to hear from other Central alumni.
