James's Story
In 1980 I Joined the Air Force and traveled allot. After basic training in Texas, I attended technical school as an Aircraft Structural Maintenace technician. I have been stationed in Minot AFB ND, Rhein-Main AB, Germany, Fairchild AFB WA, Nellis AFB, NV, Yakota AB, Japan and Eielson AFB where I retired from. While in the AF, I did alot of travelling. I spent time in England, Spain, Italy, Thialand, and Korea, as well as, many states as I was sent on special duty assignment. I worked on B-52's, KC-135's, A-10's, F-16's, C-9's, C-130's and also 3 years on the F-117 stealth Fighter before is was released to the public. I was their when the first two crashed in the desert. I was also in Germany when the Marine Barracks was bombed in Beirut, we carried the bodies off of our aircraft for indentification. Our head quarters building was...Expand for more
also bombed at this time, we were awakend with pieces of a car bomb outside our window.
I decided to retire after a little over 20 years and took a fairly relaxing 6 months of working with the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game. I spent that summer counting sockeye and king salmon, dodging mad fishermen and bears. We also trapped salmon fry and checked the impact of culverts to the salmon streams for spawning.
I worked as a Contract Manager for American Biulding Maint. for three years and then moved onto the Fairbanks School District as a Zone Manager. I ran 12 schools for grounds and custodial,
I have been retired and disabled for the past four and a half years and my doctors won't allow me to work. So now I just work around the house and yard.
I have done allot of hunting and fishing, some skiing and running from wild critters.
