James's Story
Military
I have been in the US Air Force for over 23 years now. I joined in March 1984 and it still seems like yesterday when I left for basic. I spent the first 13 years working in Civil Engineering and the last 10 in Intelligence. I am a Chief Master Sgt and am proud of the accomplishments I have made. I am currently a group superintendent and senior enlisted advisor at an intel unit on Ramstein Air base Germany.
The military has given me the opportunity to live in many diverse places such as New Mexico, the Phillippines, Germany, Maryland, and Hawaii. I have also visited and spent temporary duty in such places as England, Oman, Saudi Arabia, France, Spain, Korea, Japan, Guam, Panama, Ecuador and Peru.
I have at least three more years in the service but look to spend as many as five. I will stay in until I wake up one morning and decide that it isn't fun any longer.

dge that many of the young people that join the military today possess. However, I am more astounded and proud of the professionalism, maturity, and courage they display on a daily basis in the field under hazardous conditions at no more than 18 or 19 years of age.
Regardless of your feelings (for or against) about the War on Terror, Iraq, Afghanistan or where ever else. You can be proud of your young military troops.
High school was a tough time for me and I don't think anyone, myself included, expected much to come of me, but I am proud of the life I have had. I have four great kids, a loving family and a close knit group of friends. I am fortunate to have a great job with a lot of responsibility and a unit that appreciates the work I do.
Bottomline is, it doesn't matter who or what you were in high school. It is four short years in a long life and I am living proof that success is a gift that everyone can share in.
