James's Story
Good Day to all, while my birth certificate denotes that I am James Alan Ward, I hope that any of my classmates from days gone by remember me as Jim. I've just about come full circle from my youth in central Missouri - Taos, Centertown, St. Martins, and Jefferson City to the present where I'm living in Wardsville. What I've been doing and where I've been during the last 47 years covers a lot of geographical territory and a few life changes along the way. I guess what you might be interested in depends on when you might have known me so I'll try to summarize it a bit below.
You might have known me during my youth in central Missouri where I attended elementary school at several different schools in the Jefferson City area. During my elementary days I attended East, West, Belair, Centertown, and finished off at St. Martins for 7th and 8th grade. If you knew me during high school, I went to high school my freshman year in Miami Dade American High, then Anderson High in Austin, Texas and finished at Jefferson City Senior High in Missouri. I finished high school primarily at Round Rock Senior High, but did a few weeks at Anderson High and finished off at McCallum Senior High all in Austin, Texas.

d the Navy and made a career of it, 24 years worth. During my Navy career I was stationed in Seoul, Korea (HQ USFK/CFC J2, '81-'83); Groton, CT (USS ALEXANDER HAMILTON SSBN617G. '83-'86); Bangor, WA (COMSUBRON 17, '86-'88); San Diego, CA and Mare Island Naval Shipyard (USS PORTSMOUTH SSN707, '88-'93); Pearl Harbor, HI (COMSUBRON 7, '93-'96 and USS SANTA FE SSN763, '96-'99); Yokosuka, Japan (COMSUBGRU 7, '99-'02); and Kings Bay, GA (USS MAINE SSBN741G, '02-'05). I retired from active duty in 2005 and returned to central Missouri. I'm currently living in Wardsville and a single Dad to my 2 youngest kids and 1 of my "adult" kids. I am the proud Poppa of a total of 6 kids, 4 boys and 2 girls, and the other 3 adult kids are spread out from upstate New York, Nevada, to Hawaii - where my oldest daughter is on active duty in the Navy.
When it comes to leisure and recreation I was most often found coaching youth sports or participating in adult sports. I've been known to hold my own shooting pool or throwing darts and have always enjoyed dancing. One of my favorite quotes is attributed to John Wooden: "Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."
If you think our paths have crossed drop me a line. Cheers - Jim
