James's Story
I was born on September 28, 1959 in Laurinburg, North Carolina. I went to Scotland High School from 1975 to 1978. I ran cross country when I was in the 10th grade. I was a member of scout troop at Middleton Heights Presbyterian Church where I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. I joined the United States Marine Corps and left for Boot Camp in Paris Island just after Graduation from High School. I was chosen to go on Embassy duty and served in Dakar, Senegal and Paris, France. I left the Marine Corps after 5 years with an honorable discharge and went to Houston, Texas. I married in 1983 to Nadine Parent who is French who I meet when I was in Dakar, Senegal. First City Bank, Texas. We had our daughter Sydney Wells in 1992 and left Texas to relocate to North Carolina. I found a position with North Carolina Department of Corrections were I worked for approximately 5 years. I joined the Army National Guard where I served as a Combat Engineer for 6 years. At the same time I went to Southern Pines Community College where I completed my Law Enforcement Certification. I joined the Rockingham Police Department and then later went to work for the County and the Solid Waste Enforcement Officer until 2002. In 2002 I applied for a position with the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland where I work. I speak French and have been married to my wife for more than 30 years. We have a daughter who is 21 years old who will graduate from University next year.
