Jamie's Story

I guess I hope people remember me as friendly. My good memories are mostly of people getting along. It always seemed to me that, regardless of which clique you identified with, you could make friends with anyone you wanted to make friends with. Of course, there is always someone who doesn't like you, and I had those, too. But for the most part, it seemed like everyone pretty much got along. I have always loved to read. Some might remember me reading in class, sneaking books under the desks. Sometimes, I stayed up all night because I just couldn't put the book down. I probably looked horrible at school all day after reading all night. :) I guess that is why I love to write now. Some of my favorite things/teams/etc.: I love the Panthers. Yeah, I know what kind of team they are, but I'm not a fair weather fan, so leave me alone. Favorite MLB team is Red Sox, although I also like the Tigers. Go Kenny Rogers... I'm not too much interested in TV. I mostly watch DVDs. I own a few hundred movies on DVD and that's what I like to do when I sit in front of my TV. Life I moved to Phoenix, AZ and met my husband. In 1997, we moved to North Carolina. I am a housewife/writer/mom/volunteer... I missed the 10 year reunion... so email me and tell me how it was. I'm planning to attend #20, though. I finished my first Master's degree in 2007 and I'm working on my second Master's right now. If you want to know any more details than that, email me. I'm always interested to hear from old acquaintances and friends from my hometown! We recently moved to Kentucky and I'm now working toward an MFA in Fiction. School I think it's amazing how enlightening it is to talk to old friends. They give you a perspective on yourself that you can't get anywhere else. It's incredible...High school memories. Wow. There are so many! I remember the Trojannaires and Mr. Vleet. I remember the D...Expand for more
rama dept. and Mr. Stedillie. I remember how we all more or less got along with each other. People would dislike certain other people, but it was nothing like what kids face these days. I had so much fun during my high school years, but I would have to say that my senior year was the best. Or at least the most full! I love all these little hints they give you for writing: biggest crush, best teacher, etc. I think the biggest event in my love life in high school was Jonnie Buckallew. He was my first boyfriend. He died a few years after I graduated and moved away. Very sad. I had several quite inspiring teachers. Although he was not altogether an approachable man, Mr. Vleet was significant to me. He gave me confidence in myself that I needed. Would I do it all again if I could? YES! Definitely. But I would want to change some of my decisions. I would want the wisdom I've gained with age. Because then I could focus on the stuff that really matters in "the rest of your life." College I loved being at Pfeiffer. I liked the students I met while there, and the professors were wonderful! They always had time for students, no matter what. What a wonderful experience! At Wake Forest, I learned a lot. The students and teachers were quite snobbish, but the readings and the lectures were usually great. I graduated 2007 from UNCC with an MA. I learned so much and had such a great experience studying under my profs there! I taught a few classes at Pfeiffer in the spring of 2008 and am currently working toward an MFA in Fiction. When I'm finished with that, maybe I'll move on to a PhD... Military I joined the Air Force in 1992. Basic Training in Texas (of course), Tech school in Witchita Falls, TX. My only duty station was Luke AFB, Phoenix, AZ. Where I met my DH and got married and lived until we moved to NC, and eventually Kentucky. And lived happily ever after... :)
