Jan 's Story

There really is LIFE after high school!! Went to Columbus College, met my future husband upon his return from Viet Nam while I was working at Fort Benning in the summer of 1969, and was married in 1970. Barron has enjoyed a long career in railroading and retired in 2007. We lived in Birmingham,AL, Manchester, GA, Marietta, GA, Dallas, GA, Phenix City, AL, Elgin, IL, Aledo, TX, and have now retired to Cullman, AL (his hometown). We were blessed with a daughter and a son. Our daughter, Elizabeth, is married to Chris, and they have four wonderful children, two boys, and twin girls. They were called into ministry and are now officially the Directors of the Soldiers' Hospitality House in Killeen, Texas (through Cadence International), which is the location of Fort Hood. You can learn more about them (and how to support them) on the Soldiers' Hospitality House Facebook page. Our son is married and he and Megan live in Fort Worth, TX area. Nat...Expand for more
e manages a Chicken Express restaurant while Megan is employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I was an administrative assistant for many years and retired two years ago. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my parents in their golden years. I also enjoy keeping up with our many friends through Facebook. We are very active in our church, from being in the choir, teaching Sunday School, working in Women's Ministry, deacons, etc etc etc. We have participated with Builders for Christ for over 30 years, building church facilities in numerous states and establishing many friendships, plus seeing so much of our wonderful country. My husband started many teams over the years. Barron is currently serving on the Cullman Long Term Recovery Committee which is working to return people to livable homes following the tornadoes of April 2011. God has truly blessed us over the past 40 plus years of marriage and we look forward to many more!!
