With over 100 instruments piled high in their family room, she chose to play piano (self-taught) and recorder. During high school she joined the Dewitt Community Church bell choir, directed by Win Pusey, and ventured into solo ringing. Although her professional career was freelancing as a court reporter, her love of music has remained an integral part of her life. After graduating from Alfred State College (SUNY) with a 4.0 average and having the honor of being chosen as college commencement speaker, Jan moved to Haddon Heights, NJ. n, providing memorable moments such as singing in Carnegie Hall and also the Academy of Music under the baton of Riccardo Muti conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra. She married Lou Schopfer, Jr., a lifetime resident of Cherry Hill, and they now reside in Cherry Hill. She is the proud mother of Elizabeth Anne (a rising Senior at the University of Pennsylvania) and Matthew Clark (a rising freshman at Rutgers University-New Brunswick), and their three cats BJ, Tiger and Angel. Working part-time as an office manager at Kingsway Church in Cherry Hill, NJ has enabled her to be involved in her family's activities, church activities, and outside musical activities. Her family fellowships at Kingsway Church, located at the corner of Chapel Avenue and Cooper Landing Road in Cherry Hill. Jan sings with the New Jersey MasterChorale under the direction of Wayne Richmond, rings in the Haddonfield United Methodist Church Bell Choir, and co-leads the New Jersey MasterRecorders. She also is a published poet in "A Starlit Night" by the National Library of Poetry. Besides poetry, other hobbies include swimming (as a member of the Kingston Estates Swim Club), jigsaw puzzles, knitting, and baking (a chocoholic, for sure!)".
