Jan's Story
Life
Update:09/09....I moved to the DFW area the first of June/09. Loving it here. Bought additional Ident-A-Kid franchises, so I now own 6 areas, which keeps me very busy during the
school year. Life without kids at home is different, but have adjusted am enjoying getting to know people here. Lots of things to do here, so there is never a lack of choices.
My family lives in Corpus Christi, TX. We moved here in 1980 and love it. We can see the water from our patio. We love the beach and the mild climate after living in cold country growing up in Spearman. Kids: Elizabeth-28, married Michael and has two beautiful girls named Alexus-7 & Izzabelle-4; Steven, Jr.-23; & Samantha (Sam)-19. I turned 50 in 2006 and contrary to what I thought 50 year olds were like when I was still in high school, life is sweet!
School
My favorite...Expand for more
teachers were Mr. Worley Smith and Mr. Vic Kyler. I had the most fun in band and going on band trips to football games, competition, etc. We should probably have had more chaperones.
College
Amarillo College & Frank Phillips College. I had no desire whatsoever to have a career. My heart's desire was to be a stay-at-home mom. I was blessed to do just that until 1994 when I purchased my business. Turns out, I didn't need that degree after all.
Workplace
When I moved with my parents in 1975 to Borger, I worked for my dad at the meat market we owned. Later, I worked as a secretary for Justice of the Peace, Nadine Spinks unitl Steve and I married in 1979. I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom until 1994 when our youngest went to kindergarten. I purchased the Ident-A-Kid franchise here in South Texas and still operate it today.
