Jan's Story

Last time I posted here was 5 years ago and rereading it always makes me laugh at where I was and how I express who I am................. which always changes. I have recently been in touch with Debbie and Frank Fornaca but other than that I have not but seen a classmate or 2 since our 20th, I think anyway. It really made me smile to know that 5th grade classmates found each other again in their 60's. Everyone that I've known since Kindergarten or elementary stays with me although we have gone our ways, yet not separate. This school year I have started teaching 2nd grade at the mission in Carmel, CA. A big shift from Louisiana where I have been for 20, and that being an even bigger shift from Hawaii in the 90's. In Hawaii many came to visit.............., Louisiana, nada! When most are retiring, I feel like I am just starting and with so much more of myself available for 18 youngins' Loving the old Spanish architecture and plaza with a fountain at my back door. or all that your hearts long for in 2019. I know that we all came together in the sleepy 50's and shifting 60's at a time of a great awakening on Earth and while working on this at different levels of my being, the emergence of the new amid the chaos, confusion and strife of now is undeniable, and quite palpable, at least for me. There is no safety net at the old fades, as I have learned and so honor and trust in my heart's wisdom as things get tossed and turned on their heads. I have been through hurricanes, toranados, fires and earthquakes, each with their own revelations attached and I have learned there is nothing that i truly need, other than connection with the source of my being who many might call God. But it is not what I thought or what I have been taught. Life teaches me what is real and what is not and I smile back looking at the many episodes when I thought I knew something when actually I had just cracked the surface. So today on this rainy day I am thinking of ya'll and hoping that this connection speeds you on your journey through these weird times. Love, Jan eyeofnowatyahoodotcom
