Janet's Story
I now live in Rhinelander, Wisconsin in the country on a lake. I have been married 52 years as of 2020.
My schooling includes Calumet High School, NIU (BS in Elem Educ), Nicolet College ( AA in Sociology), U S Army Women's Corp Officer Training (at Ft McClellan, Alabama, Basic Training), U S Finance School, and US Recruiting and Retention School at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana.
I taught school in Oregon, IL before being commissioned into the Women's Army Corps ( WAC ) and taught school in Rhinelander after leaving active duty. I opened the Wal-Mart in Rhinelander as a Customer Service Mgr and opened the Minocqua Wal Mart as personnel mgr, 5 yrs later.
MUSIC: I like classical, old Country and Western, music from the 60s and 70s, Christian Rock and some soul and some jazz.
BOOKS: Some Non-fiction, Historical novels and anything else that catches my interest. MOVIES: Winnie the Pooh, Uncle Remus, Dr. Zhivago and all the Rogers and Hammerstein Musicals.
TV SHOWS: Steve Harvey, American Pickers , Blue Bloods, NCIS, Masterpiece Theater and various mystery shows on PBS.

More about me. I'm the mother of 2 sons, a stepson and an unofficial Mexican son. They have given my husband and me 8 grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren, and 1 great greatgrandchild.
I am retired and enjoying life and my grandchildren. The oldest graduated high school with honors, finished a 2yr AA degree in 1 year, and is now working on her BS in Geology.
I get up when I want and go to bed when I want. My schedule is totally guided by my whims, Dr. appts, Lake Association projects, and my Mystery Shopping. Totally retired now. And if I were wealthy, I would travel the world.

ementary teacher, a military officer, a personnel manager for retail business, run a resort, bred and trained purebred Paso Fino horses, worked as a short-order cook, and did house cleaning in college and have taken post-graduate courses in education.
In Sept of 2012, I took up the hobby of Pyrography. I have become addicted. As of the middle of Feb 2013, I have created over 50 pieces of art. I have entered my art pieces in local art shows and our county fair. My pieces have taken best in the show at the fair the last 2 years and honorable mentions in the statewide art show locally. I have one 14x18 picture of the Pallas Athene ( The symbol for the WAC) on permanent display in The Army Women's Museum at FT Belvoir, VA. I also quill and crochet. I've been making stuffed animals for my granddaughter for the last 6 years. She has a whole zoo of animals. I also have made dresses, sweaters, hats, little purses, and blankets for her. I entered 2 of her dresses at the fair and received 2nd place on both of them.
I was on the organizing committee for our lake association their treasurer for 7 yrs and the editor of the association newsletter. until 2016.
I am a first-generation American. Both my parents came from Lithuania.". I have taught many of the cultural traditions and the making of many traditional foods to my sons.
In 2005 My husband and I went to Lithuania looking for my roots and found a lot of relatives that I didn't know about. We were treated like royalty by my family. The country is about the same size as the state of WI. The terrain and climate are much the same as WI also.
I am fully retired now due to disabilities that have developed from my stint in the Army, I am considered 100% disabled and use an electric scooter to get around.
I am widowed 3 yrs now and still living independently with my service dog. Collapse
