Janet's Story
What has been my biggest suprise? Where do I start? Learning that it doesn't matter what others think of you. Keeping true to yourself, thinking of others, and doing for others is what counts in life. I tried so hard to be accepted by the popular groups and worrying about what others thought; that I almost lost sight of me. After graduation instead of preparing for college (as I had anticipated for 4 years) I found myself working full time. I also found new friends and through one friend in particular began to find me. I left all the cliques of high school behind and discovered that I can be what I wanted to be; not what I thought others saw me as. I have been in a couple of rock bands, nothing big - but had a blast doing it, I've had the priviledge of working for good people that saw a spark in me and showed me how to ignite the spark into a fire. I was involved with the Lake Erie Fire and Burglar Alarm Association with one of my jobs. I served as secretary for the local association for approximately a year. During that time I was President of Family Council at Western Reserve Nursing Home. My father Clayton W. Bediant was a resident there for 4 1/2 years. With the administrator at the time we drafted the by laws for Family Council. It has been 16 years since my dad passed away, I believe that the council is still current helping families of residents. I traveled through Ohio and Michigan for job...Expand for more
s doing sales calls and various job related shows and conventions.
I learned about diamonds, diamonds and more diamonds. Unfortunately, the economy did not allow me to continue in that industry. What I ended up working at was being major care provider for my mother-in-law who was diagnosed with Alzheimers before her 70th birthday. It was the most difficult and trying time in my life and I would not trade a single day for anything in this world. At one time I was afraid that it would crack or break apart my marriage, it did not. Tommy and I grew closer and stronger because of it. During the years that I was caring for my second mom I discovered that I actually have a talent for a number of crafts. From trying different venues (craft shows, putting together a few parties, and a co-op) I am now looking forward to developing my own web-site for my work. Tommy and I moved home to Eastlake in May of 2004 after his mother's passing. She had been in a facility for Alzheimers patients and died of complications of the disease. I am now looking after my 90 year young mother. If I had said she was old, she would not be pleased. Mom is mature, experienced, wise but never, never old. I only hope I can live to her age and have the knowledge, experience and love for others that she shows every single day of her life. My biggest suprise? Even though I do not have children - I have become my mother. And I love it!!!
