Janet's Story
Life
I am married to the love of my life, Danny, (19 years) and have two children, 23 and 19. We live in Douglas County. I had been an elementary teacher for 30 years in four schools (two in Cobb) and am about to embark on a new, exciting, unknown career. I retired a year and a half ago, but look forward to the future. I am running for school board in Douglas County. I am very active politically in local campaigns. I have been getting my feet wet in civic involvement at a higher level in my community. I serve on the Board of Directors for the local domestic violence crisis center (SHARE House), am vice chair of the City of Douglasville Development Authority (a whole new ball game...Expand for more
of finance and bonds and industrial growth), in the Kiwanis, and am on a committee to raise funds for a teen center. I am in Leadership Douglas, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. I could have never have done this teaching! In the past I was active in the teachers association at a local, state, and national level. My current hobby is acting in local dinner theater. I was in three plays last year. My husband and 19 year old son are sports fanatics, so sports play an important role in my life also. My son played on the offensive line for the varsity football team. He is in college at Georgia Southern. Shopping is the favorite shared sport for my daughter( in grad school) and me.
