School
After high school, I attended Brazosport Community College for a year and then transferred to Southwest Texas State University. I stayed there for a year and then tranferred to UT. I finally graduated in Dec. '89 with a BS in Math Education. The following fall I got a job working at Humble High School just north of Houston. I missed my friends in Austin, so after only one year in Humble, I moved back to Austin. At the time, it was difficult to get a teaching job in the Austin area (everyone wanted to work there!)...Expand for more
, so I spent the next 2 years bartending at a popular country bar named Dallas Nightclub. I finally got a teaching position in Round Rock in the fall of '93. I spent another 2 years teaching Geometry there, before deciding to go back to school and get my Masters. I graduated from SWTSU in Dec. '97 with an MBA. I then got a job working as an editor at a textbook publishing company, Holt, Rinehart, & Winston. Following that job, I moved on to the University of Texas, where I am still employed as a programmer/web developer.
