Janet's Story
Life
The Covid-19 virus hasn't gotten me yet, and I have had both shots. I'm still wearing a mask, and I suspect I will remain cautious for a long time. .I'm still enjoying life and don't miss practicing law at all., The hip replacement surgery in 2013 worked, but I have become more and more immobile from inactivity. My two grandchildren, now 29 and 25, are still wonderful.
The things the Poly Alumni Association is doing for Poly and the current students continue to make me very proud - wish I were there in Ft. Worth to serve as a mentor, etc., but here I am in Austin where we've lived since 1993 when I moved back from D.C. Those grandchildren brought me back. Thank you to the devoted folks who continue to produce the alumni newsletter, even during the pandemic and quarantine. I treasure those orange letters. I treasure those years at Poly and the friends I made. Many of you are still in my life, for which I am grateful. Go Parrots!

e continues to be beautiful, and I still feel very blessed. I still believe that part of the reason our lives are as positive as they are is the solid grounding we got at Poly, both in academics from all our teachers (I still understand grammar and diagramming sentences, remember reading Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" with comments by a person who shall remain nameless concerning Shakespeare's reference to Caesar's premature birth) and in morality, proper values and citizenship, primarily from CAT. I feel very grateful that I wound up going to Poly. After attending 10 schools in the first 9 years of school, I loved the three years at Poly and felt so fortunate to make such good friends - thank you to Carolyn Oakley, Sammie Bachelor, Ann Smith, Valerie Martinson, Pat Marshall, Patty Buie, Jo ann Earnheart, Sue Cox, and Shirlene Williamson. I still love and treasure each of you. Good luck to all you Parrots, and may we see one another soon!
