Janette's Story

Life After high school, I went to CSU-Long Beach and earned a BA in Physical Education. Then went to CSU -Scramento to complete my teaching credential requirements. I then went with my partner to University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana. She did an internship in the Veterinary school and I was an Assistant Coach/Player on the UI Women's Soccer team. Moved back to California. Finally settled in Oxnard in 1984. My partner left me in '86. Life goes on. Got my first fulltime job teaching high school. I taught Biology, Health & Physical Science for 7 years at Channel Islands High School. Met my partner in '87. Also coached girls' varsity volleyball for 5 years and Jv and Varsity softball for 4...Expand for more
years. I was not just a jock. I was advisor to the spelling bee team and co-advisor to our Academic Decathlon Team. Then in '93 moved with my partner to Seattle WA. I have lived and worked here since. I did an assortment of teaching for the state and county and am in my 4th year at Cleveland High School. I was teaching Health and PE but switched to teaching Physical Science and Health so i could work with 9th graders. Am I insane or what ?! My partner, Carole, and I just celebrated 14 years. We love it in Seattle. Love the culture up here. And NO, it doesn't rain all the time !! :-) I am still wild and crazy and even though I am older, I refuse to grow up. Would love to hear from you.
