Jani's Story
Life
I can tell you a little about what I have done. I left Spokane and moved to West Virginia. That was in 68. I lived in Georgia briefly and then Maryland. When the kids were 11 and 12, as a family we moved back to Spokane and then to Issaquah.
While in Maryland, I went back to school for computer programming a very equal opportunity occupation after working at the county court house in the elections department and assessment department. In 1974, it was obvious computers were a good work avenue.
I focused on kids and work for a decade. After the kids left home, Mike and I decided to declare the marriage a success and went our mol separate ways. Since then, I have collected a variety of life experiences. A three week trip to Italy, a tandom jump at 12,000 feet with a 8,000 free fall. Would I do it again, maybe under the right circumstances.
I retired from software development, took care of my mother for a few years, and now work as a field interviewer for a research firm at the University of Chicago. I volunteer. Am a certified mediator - because I tend to avoid conflict and it is much different to help other people resolve conflict using peaceful methods.

nd have fun in whatever I am doing. The best book I have read recently is about a woman who lived in Spokane and Rockford in 1895 - she walked from Spokane to New York City... it is an amazing story. Bold Spirit - the story of Helga Estby...
My kids are grown and on their own. I have two wonderful grandsons. In 2002, I stood at the local park with a handful of other people carrying a sign that said 'No Iraq War'. I am standing up and speaking out. I would like our children and grand children have some of the wonderful opportunities we have enjoyed.
I hope when I leave this world, I have helped make life better for others, which makes life better for me too. Well that is a thumb nail of 40 years.
After I jumped out of the airplaine, I was fairly new to living in Ellensburg. I decided to introduce myself as Jani. Dad and nieces called me Jani - I missed being called Jani so I decided if I can jump out of an airplaine, I can introduce myself by the name I prefer.... I laugh often, it is good for me. Hope to hear from you. - Jani
