Janice's Story
Life
I was born, I've lived the good life and I've laughed my butt off! Been some really, really rough times, but have always seemed to bounce back. Love life, living it and the people in it. What else is there to say?
Okay,okay. It sounded good to start with!
Let's see...Quick recap of my life...shouldn't take long...
1st marriage: To the guy I was dating in High School..JACK SELZER, Jr. Married in 1968...had only child JASON TOBIN SELZER in 1971...divorced Jack in 1974.
2nd Marriage: Made in heaven. Met John Lovekamp in 1974, married in 1977. No children. He had two from his first marriage. So we have three grandchildren from his side and one from mine with another one due in January, 2005.
Life After High School: I went to Nursing School at Charity Hospital and UNO for a while (did not finish.) Met John along the way and got married again.
Our Life Together: John was in the tow boat business when I met him and so in 1977 we moved from Louisiana to Missouri and started our own towboating Company called JEMCO Towing, Inc. We operated this Company from 1977 until February of 2000. We met many people along the way and made many, many friends that we see and visit with to this day. We are what is officially called "retired" now, but we are both constantly looking for "something to do". . Although I'm getting pretty good at the part where you can sleep a lot.
HOMES, ETC.: In 1979 we bought a 272 acre farm in Steelville, MO (about 100 mis. SW of St. Louis) and thought we'd become farmers or something. Well 24 yrs. later, we still ain't farmers, so we sold the place. However, we did have quite a lengthy stint of raising horses...from Arabians to Paints to Quarter Horses to MISSOURI FOXTROTTERS and finally to Racing THOROUGHBREDS. We sold our last thoroughbred stallion in 2000 and I shovelled my last shovel-full of horse poop that I'll ever shovel again and was glad of it!
In 2003, we moved to JACKSON, MO to be closer to Jason and the New Grand Baby. We just bought a house here in November of 2004 and are really enjoying being close to the kids and ANDREW JOHN SELZER (2 y/o), the current light of our lives.
Times have been rough and then they have been exceptionally good. John and I both are heavily invested in our church and serving the Lord and enjoying it very much.
We have been mightily blessed and sometimes I think I may be getting "OLD". But then I look in the mirror, and my brain says to my tired old fat body, "Who is that cute little fat girl in the mirror there...looking so young and full of life? Why, it's ME!" says myself and along my merry way I go.
This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...so help me if I'm lying, I'm dying!!! hahahahaha...
