Janice's Story
Life
After graduating from Claymont High, I took the Executive Secretarial course at Beacom College. After graduation, I was employed at Hercules in the Treasurer's Dept., Credit Division. In February, 1951, I married Wayne Orr from Kokomo, Indiana, whom I met at Beacom. We were divorced in 1955. I next married Dan Sweeney, from Philly, whom I met in Wildwood while he was in the Marines and stationed at Quantico. We had five children, three boys and two girls. We were divorced in 1974.
We had moved to Marco Island, Florida, in March, 1973, where I still reside, as do four of my children. My youngest daughter graduated from Cornell, where she met her now husband, then got her Master's degree from Harvard. Her husband got a job in Boston and they stayed there. They recently moved to Providence, RI, but Terrence still works in Boston....Expand for more
They had their first child on March 10, a son. I have five other grandchildren, four girls and one boy, here on Marco Island.
I'm a dedicated Bruce Springsteen fan. For three years, I wrote a Springsteen monthly newsletter called The Fever. My editor lived in Chicago. We had subscribers in 15 countries. When I had a near-death experience in 1983, the newsletter folded. I've made a lot of fast friends through the Springsteen grapevine. I'm a rock and roll fan in general, as well, which seems to set me apart from people my age.
I'm a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan, also. I belong to a Fantasy Baseball League, too, which gets to be almost an obsession!
For the past 13 years, I've been the office manager of a highrise condominium on the beach and live in the manager's apartment. Our snowbirds are getting ready to go back north now.
