Janice's Story

I still remember North High as a great school. Some of the teachers were a bit wierd, however so were some of the students. I am hoping there will be a 50 year reunion in 2012. The last one I attended was the 31st. I think it is so interesting to see what we wanted to achieve and where our lives actually are now. I really hoped to be an artist to earn my living....I am still an artist however I am a sales and customer support person now. I love doing the customer trainings, so maybe I should have been a teacher. My parents have both passed on and had wonderful lives. They were the most wonderful people. I miss them greatly. After two unsucessful marriages, I am now married to the greatest man in the world. I was so lucky to meet him. It turns out that I lived right next door to his Aunt Edna when I was married to my first husband. I still have cats. I have 4 now. They just keep showing up at our back door. The last one came to us in March of 2008. He is a beautiful silver tipped tabby. He was just a kitten and was starving. He was lost or dumped in the open space near our house. My greatest joy, besides finding my husband has been the opportunity to swim with dolphins. I have had 2 opportunities, once in the Bahamas, and once in Mexico. They are the most gentle creatures and very intelligent. They have 70 very sharp teeth and like to scrape them on each other when playing with their brothers and sisters. I know some of our school mates have passed on as well. One of my very best friends Carol Waddell Roseberry died when we were 30. She was such a lover of life and her two children were her greatest joy. My husband Rick and I have been traveling some. He had many many United Air Lines miles save...Expand for more
d so we took a trip to Hawaii in 2004 and again to Maui in 2007. We love anywhere with a beach....Las Cabos Mexico, Nassau Bahamas, Myrtle Beach S. Carolina. There is a little town in the Mountains of Colorado called Guffey. His Aunt and Uncle Edna and Martin Sloan(1964 North graduate too) have a wonderful house in the mountains around there. We spend time there in the summer. We are now living in Westminster Colorado and love it here. I am hoping to retire in 2012 if our finances grow. I will probably work part time after that. Rick and I have no children. I do have a wonderful Godson and spend some time with him whenever I can. My life's relationships have not been happy until Rick. I spent many years trying to figure out what I was doing wrong in my relationships. I discovered that I was choosing the wrong kind of partner. I went through some group therapy for a while that really helped me find out what was important to me in a relationship. It really seemed to help. My first two marriages were difficult, however I learned so much from each of my husbands and I thank them for that. I also went through a leadership program starting in 1982. The things I learned in the 3 trainings which took about a year to complete have propelled me to places I never would have attempted to try before. I went through the ropes course at the Air Force Academy...which really helped me elliminate most of my fear of heights. I sang on the street for money(only sang!!). Started a parade in Washington park. etc. I helped facilitate the trainings for another year and then decided to go out and put all of the learning to practice. Life is really wonderful now and I would love to hear from all of you. Janice Schad Jacobsen
