Janice's Story

Life Life is great! I have two cute little girls that only drive me crazy every once in a while, have some good, close friends in my life, and have time to pursue building my own business and hobbies. There is still much to accomplish, though. Still hoping for a Bills Super Bowl Championship. Still want to read Ulysses. Still long to compete in the Ironman triathalon. Some things I have made progess on; others are on the back burner for now. Overall, I can't complain about life. School OK, so at SWCS I was a nerd. Well, maybe not a full nerd, but at least on the fringe of nerdiness. I am just thankful that SWCS was the type of place (at least at the time) where mostly everyone got along with everyone else. I am thankful for my years at Southwestern because the set me up break free of my nerdiness and shyness in college and become a stong, confident person. College College was fantastic. Pledged a sorority, became the first female sports radio broadcaster in the school's history, made tons of friends and had fun dating around until I found the one I married. BW was the perfect school for me and I found lots of mentors there. That was one of the reasons why I went back to school to get my Masters degree so that I could work in a college environment - I wanted to be able to mentor other college kids as they navigated through that period in life. kplace After college and two year of workng as a Private Investigator (do I have stories!), I went back to school and got a Masters in Higher Education/Student Personnel. I worked for a few years at Ursuline College as the Director of Residence Life before moving onto CWRU's Career Center as an Assistant Director. When my first daughter was born, I decided to stay home. I started my own creative publishing firm soon after that point and worked on projects in my spare time. Little sister came along two years later and added to the fun. And Then Life Throws You a Curve Ball... They say that the true test of a person is how they handle themselves when the storms of life come. The last few years have certainly put me to the test. Through it all, though, I have gain a strong faith, a good life, and many more friends than I had ever imagined I would have. Today you'll find me as a strong single mom who is confident in herself and her faith. I "get it" now - what is important in life and in the everyday. Professionally, I work an eclectic mix of jobs that still relate to my career aspirations, but keep me home when the girls are not in school. I also put on workshops and seminars in the Cleveland area relating to healing and faith. To all of my former classmates and friends, I hope that you are doing well and that your life is all that you imagined it would be.
