Janice's Story

2006 Life Pets: Deer (two bucks, Buckie and Babie), one 5 pound poodle (Luckie girl, spoiled rotten). Okay the deer are also spoiled. They will eat animal crackers from your mouth (careful they slobber) Kids: Notice how the pets are listed first? What's that tell you about my kids? Actually they are pretty awesome. My daughter is 30 and is expecting our first grandchild in June (a girl, Olivia Lynn) Keri teaches language arts at the Weightman Middle School in Wesley Chapel, FL. Chad is a Junior at Land O'Lakes High School in Land O' Lakes. He is currently employed by Hungry Harry's Famous B-B-Q. May 2007 UPDATE: My First grandchild has arrived. Olivia Lynn Keeler born May 16, 2007. Yes, she has bumped the pets to second place. She weighed 5 lbs 5.1 oz., 18 inches long. Olivia arrived a little early, but all is well and everyone is home. Grammie (thats me) is totally wrapped up in that little girl. I have waited a long, long time to be a Grammie. I can't wait for the next one!! UPDATE: 11-9-07 Olivia is now six months old and beautiful of course. She is a very happy baby and has quite a personality. She is always smiling. Can you tell, I am hooked on the grammie thing. Olivia spends Tuesday afternoon, evening and all day Wednesday with Grammie and then a couple of hours Thursday and Friday afternoon. She has turned my office into a nursery and keeps the office staff entertained. Chad is a senior this year and I thought I would be done with child rearing. We'll I guess I am, I can send Olivia home whenever...but somehow I don't seem to want to give her up. I had all these plans for travel, etc. and now I am working all those plans around the joy of my life. UPDATE 2-28-08 Life is still the same here in little old Land O' Lakes. Just got back from New Orleans returning from a seminar held over four days. I can't begin to imagine the amount of debris that had to be removed, let alone restoring power, water & sewer service, phone service etc. The downtown area is in full swing but some of the out lying areas have not been repaired. I was quite impressed with the history behind the city myself, however, if you like to party, the French Quarter is the place to be. We were invited to the HOUSE OF BLUES for dinner and special entainment. It was great!!! Oh yeah, we just had to take a swamp boat tour. We finally had to confess to the captain that seeing an Ali-ga-tor wasn't anything new to us. Five days without MISS OLIVIA (you remember, my grandaughter) was difficult. She missed me as much as I missed her. That's all for now. UPDATE 3-2-08 After checking out who has read my profile, I thought I should update those who would like to know where my siblings are. Brother Chuck and his wife Rinnie are living about a minute outside my front gate. We live really close but rarely see one another. Everyone is so busy. Chuck has worked for Hillsborough County Utilities forever. Their daughter Sarah attends FSU. She and my son Chad were born four days apart. My twin sister, Janet passed away in 1995. Her children Wayne Jr. age 26 and Kyle age 20 live two minutes away and I see them quite often. My youngest sibling Doug moved to North Carolina with his wife Annet about 15 years ago and lives there with their two daughters Chelsea 17 and Megan 11. Just a quick Olivia update: I found her first tooth on February 8th, and her second tooth yesterday while having her Easter pictures taken. I'm not supposed to say anything about the second tooth because my daughter wants her daddy to find it. I'm not saying a word. UPDATE 04-06-08 JUST A THOUGHT....I KNOW FIRST HAND HOW SHORT LIFE CAN BE. LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST!!!! UPDATE 5-28-08 Olivia turned one on May 16th. What a joy she is to be around....always smiling. She is walking now and goes non-stop. Chad will graduate on June 5th (FINALLY). My daughter and her husband are going on a cruise for a week in June. Of course, I will have Olivia all to myself for a whole week. JUST ANOTHER THOUGHT...ITS NEVER TOO LATE TO LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. UPDATE 8-15-08 My son Chad graduated in June and I don't have to buy school supplies any more. He is hoping to get on at the fire department. Olivia, my grandaughter keeps me going. My daughter was home all summer so I didn't get to see Olivia as much. Next week she's all mine! I visited a friend in Minnesota the first week in July. I really like it there. Chad, and his girlfriend Chelsea went with me to Daytona Beach for a week and when we returned I left for Ohio. July has been extremely busy for me. Jury duty called the day after I got back from Ohio. Luckily, we were the first 14 selected and before we could be questioned the trial was cancelled so we all got to go home. The other 150 people left sitting there were not too happy. I will be going to North Carolina in October to visit my brother. UPDATE on the pets: Buckie is an 8 point again this year but BABIE is a ten point and he's only 4 years old. JUST ANOTHER THOUGHT: ITS YOUR SENIOR YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL AND YOU HAVE ALL THESE PLANS, ARE YOU WHERE YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE? IF NOT, ITS NOT TOO LATE. UPDATE AUGUST 20, 2008 I will be headed to Pennsylania over Labor Day. I have a friend who turned 80 this year. She worked in our office in Bradenton years ago. She has been placed in an assisted living facility and her memory is fading fast. I would like to visit her while she still recognizes me. When I return I have a fundraiser for American Cancer Society to prepare for. This is my nineth year participating in the Horizon of Hope Breast Cancer Awareness program. Wish me luck!!! AND ANOTHER THOUGHT: LIFE IS NOT ABOUT HOW TO WEATHER THE STORM, BUT HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN. Hey, I forgot all about Olivia....Well she is just adorable. Five teeth on top, two on the bottom. 31 inches tall and 22.8 pounds, blonde hair and blue eyes. She is very entertaining and loves to smile!! I will post new pictures soon. MARCH 14, 2008 Sorry I haven't updated the profile, just been really, really busy. I have been traveling some and work...Expand for more
ing alot. I have a new grandnephew. Donovan is my sister Janet's first grandchild so I am grammie and aunt to Donovan. Livy just loves him. She has such a loving personality. On April 3rd she will have surgery on her thumb for trigger finger. She developed trigger finger about a month ago and it hasn't corrected itself yet so they will need to do surgery. Livy turns two in May and I can't believe how time has flown by. She started day care two days a week (grammie was not pleased) but she needs the interaction with other kids.I am still very much into the grammie thing and I just work around my grandkids. If that means working from 7 p.m. to midnight so I can spend the day with them then I do it. I am fortunate that I can set my own schedule. Donovan will be here soon. Its his first time overnight with grammie. He is almost three months old. Better go for now. Hope to update the pictures soon. May 2009 Well good news...I will be a grammie again in December. I'll know on July 10th if it is a grandson or granddaughter. Just got back from Orlando with Olivia and Keri. Spent the week there. I leave on the 29th to visit a friend in Minnesota for a week. Olivia is still keeping me busy. We spend a lot of time together. Chad is saving up for a new truck. Our beautiful driveway is no more...The County extended Collier Parkway straight down my driveway and took out all the old beautiful oak trees. I am so glad we built on the back of the property. I hated to see those beautiful trees cut down. The project will not be completed until mid 2010. We will have a new entrance to our property not sure yet what it will look like. August 2009 Well, its another little girl. Jeremy is very happy. He doesn't have to paint the nursery again. Keri has everything she needs for the new baby, Abigail (we will call her Abby). Keri, Olivia and I just got back from Ohio...Longaberger Basket Country for a National Sales Meeting. Olivia was quite the ham, dressed in her "bee" dress and had the "bee" boys (pictures posted later)swarming all around. I know I chased her at least 500 miles around the Hyatt Convention Center. Olivia was really great on the flight and watched her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Playhouse video the whole way. On the way back she feel asleep before we ever left the terminal and slept the whole way.I'm taking a small group back to Ohio Labor Day weekend to visit the "Big Basket" and weave their own baskets. That's my story and I'm "stickin" to it! ANOTHER THOUGHT THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR. SEPTEMBER 2009 My traveling is over until after the first of the year. Don't want to miss the arrival of "Miss Abby" my new granddaughter due the end of November. Her big sister Olivia is already calling her old room, Abby's room. Olivia is hosting the baby shower with a little help from grammie. Grandkids, wish I could have had them first! ANOTHER THOUGHT DON'T DREAM YOUR LIFE, LIVE YOUR DREAMS JANUARY 2010 MISS ABBIGAIL LEE ARRIVED ON NOVEMBER 30TH. She has black hair, blue eyes and 8 pounds even. I am hoping her hair stays dark...reminds me of my sister Janet Lee whom Abby is named after. She is not quite as content as Olivia was but Grammie takes over January 8th when Keri goes back to work and we will see if I can work some magic. We had a very blessed Christmas with family and friends in Palmetto at my mom's house which I purchased when she passed away. I know mom was smiling down at us as we all gathered for Christmas dinner. Olivia and I are in North Carolina right now visiting my brother and his family. She has grown very attached to them all including Annet's family. She has traveled with me so often and I am glad she gets to experience different surroundings. I will probably stop at Sea World on the way home, Olivia will love it!!! That's all for now. No words of wisdom today...I'm not awake yet. Livy stayed up until 11:30 last night. February 2010 Its snowing in Colorado. Livy and I flew to Colorado with my friend Debbie to visit her daughter and grandaughter who is Livy's age. We played in the snow and the girls are having a lot of fun. Headed home tomorrow, then its back to work....tax time. June 2010 Left for Bellingham, WA on the 18th with my cousins Vickie and Amber. Had a great time. Stopped in Seattle for a day and a half. Did the underground tour and the pike market tour. Vickie caught the fish at the fish market. (they throw you a huge fish and you are supposed to catch it) the weather was great and we had a great time. Arrived home on the 27th. Missed the grandaughters very much. July 2010 On the 29th of June I left for Minnesota to visit Kay, a friend of mine who lives in Odessa in the winter and Faribault in the summer. We plan a trip each year from Mn. and this year we went to Yellowstone National Park. We flew into Jackson Hole, Wyoming (HOWDY) and then drove through the Grand Teton mountains. What a beautiful site. Arrived at the Old Faithful Inn and stayed one night. Old Faithful was right outside our window...she erupts every 92 minutes give or take 10 minutes. Where else can you see a herd of bison crossing in front of your bus....a grizzly bear having breakfast, lunch and dinner on a bison he didn't kill and then watch the grey wolf slowly make his way down the mountain to see if there is any left for him only to realize the grizzly was not going to give it up? This wonderful Kodak moment was caught on video just after another grizzly bear and her two cubs were spotted. Lets not leave out the black bear wondering around without a care in the world and the coyote pouncing on his prey through the sage brush. Lets see, there was an elk close enough to the road that I could have swatted him on the rear as we passed. Now I have been around wildlife alot but found Yellowstone to be amazing. I haven't even mentioned the scenic and natural wonders of Yellowstone.... oh well, another day. Found this quote at the Silver Dollar Inn in Jacklson Hole, Wyoming. "YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE, AND IF YOU DO IT RIGHT, ONCE IS ENOUGH" " MAY WEST"
