Janie's Story
My husband, Bob, and I have been married for 12 exciting years. We travel fulltime, due to our work. We have been from Canada to Mexico, and from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Spent a couple years in Calif, and would love to go back out there. That's the only time I cried, when we left Calif. We have 4 beautiful grandchildren, 2 boys, Michael & Lucas, & 2 girls, Kaitlin & Bailey, ages 6 mths, 6 yrs, 8 yrs, and 14 yrs old. They live in Shelby, NC with my son, Adam Howell. Bob's children, Andrea & Scott Jones live in Conn., & Caron Jones lives in London, England.
We love our life of travel and work. We've seen so much of this great country. Makes you glad to live in God's America The Beautiful.
This Dec 2008, I am a 10-yr breast cancer SURVIVOR. Thanks to my family and friends for their support. Without them, I could not have made it thru.
Bob and I both have Harley Davidson Road Kings. We love to ride wherever we are and do a lot of sightseeing. I got mine for our 10th wedding anniversary while we were in Omaha, Neb. Mine is red with leather saddlebags, Bob's is black with hard bags.
Our home is a 36 ft. Nu-Wa Hitchhiker Fifth Wheel with 4-slide-outs. It is a great home, furnished with just about all the things one needs. I even have a washer and dryer in it. Bob pulls our home with a Dodge 1-ton dually. I pull our 16 ft enclosed utility trailer with our mtrcycles inside, with my Ford Excursion.
We adopted a Shih Tzu pup in Jan 2006 when we worked in Biloxi after Hurrican Katrina. I visited the Humane Society where I fell for those big, beuatiful eys. Sophie is a wonderful little girl. She is black and white, weighs 8 lbs. If you are sitting down, expect to have her in your lap. She loves to give kisses and loves to ride in the trucks.
My oldest brother, Buddy, lives in Covington, GA. He has 2 daughters that live in that area too. Shannon, the youngest, and her husband Chip have 3 boys. are into competition shooting. My other brother, Tommy, lives at the Ellen Sagar nursing home in Union. He has one daughter, Dottie, that lives in Union. She is married to Josh Bevis and they have 2 sons, Tristen and Rydder.
Bob and I met on St. Patrick's day 1996 at a bullriding in Conyers, GA. That was my lucky day! From that day, we were inseperable. Three months after we met, I packed up my house, quit my job, and left to go on the road with him. Three months after that we got married in Marseilles, Ill., outside our camper in Whispering Pines Campground. Our life together has certainly been an adventure.
The couple that stood with us when we got married were David and Ann "Tutti" Loveless from Petal, Miss. I had just met them, and fell in love with both. Bob had known them for years. "Tutti" became my mentor, and showed me the ways of the road, and what it meant to be a "road wife". I learned so much from her, and other wives. She is still one of my dear friends, even though they have retired and are off the road now.
Bob is a Union electrician. Has been in the trade for 35 years. I worked for about 25 years in the credit and collections field. Wore a suit and high heels for years. I now have a Union laborer ticket, and work some jobs with him. Now, my choice of clothes are blue jeans, t-shirts, and boots. Mostly my jobs are nuclear plant shutdowns but i have worked a couple jobs on some coal burning powerhouses. It is exciting to work these jobs. I have made some wonderful friends too travelling.
I love to do crafts. Am into beading, love making jewelry, stained glass, sewing, and some painting. I love to make outfits for the grandkids. All the kids know there will be something I made for them in their Christmas gifts.
We recently bought a piece of land in Lawndale, NC. That is gonna be our retirement home. It is close to the grands. Bob's sis, Sheryn, and her husband, Denny, live nearby too. They sold their home in Iowa and moved south to be close to Nascar racing.
