Janie Hickok's Story
Life
I have 2 grown sons: Robert (3/87) graduated from Middle College High School (on the Delta College campus) in May 2005 with Honors & 44 college units already completed. Matthew (11/91) was the Valedictorian of his 2010 high school class, got a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and is an Accountant with the State of California. He recently purchased his first home!
I also have 2 nephews, a delightful niece-in-law, and 2 beautiful grandnieces. My greates joy is being "Grandauntie Janie." Tragically, my older sister, Judy, died suddenly in November 2013. She never met her amazing granddaughters.
I have a B.S. in Accounting and got my J.D. at McGeorge School of Law, Sacto. After 7 years in private practice in Stockton, I spent another 7 years with the State of California, Department of Fair Employment and Housing and 14 with the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation. I retired 12/02/21.

ear career was Conservatorship of Robert Wendland. I argued it before the Calif. Supreme Court in May 2001, securing a 6-0 decision in my clients' favor which set a national/international precedent on end-of-life decision-making in August 2001.
I have been playing flute & piccolo (and an occasional piano part) in the Lodi Community Band and Stockton Concert Band since 2004. We have performed in Hawaii & at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
I read constantly and enjoy rev iewing books, primarily at jhsiess dot com.
When I'm not spending time in my happy place, Maui, or my second-favorite place, Pismo Beach, you'll find me still "stuck in Lodi."
School
I wouldn't want to do it all again!
One of the biggest challenges of my life was my 3rd year at McGeorge School of Law. My youngest son was born on Sat. morning but I was back in class Monday night because it was 2 weeks before finals! My father was very ill and died just 2 months later. I was never so glad for a school year to be over.
