Janie's Story

I hate to say it, but I had a miserable childhood (in my teens), which is why I did not socialize much in school. My father left us when I was only a year old. That left a huge hole in my heart and questions left unanswered. I wanted desperatly to play sports, participate in school and hang out more with friends, but mother (who had to play both parents), would not allow it! I would sneak out to try to have fun, get caught and grounded for an entire month!! A month! I was miserable. And confused, as most teens are! What time I did spend with friends, still makes me smile though. I remember some crazy things. Like going to a party when I was 16 that the cops broke up. My friend was too drunk to drive so she told me to. Problem was, I didn't even have a license, nor did I know how to drive! Plus, I had been drinking too! I know the cops saw me drive up on the sideway curb, but we didn't get caugtht! Whew! I moved to Las Vegas, NV over 13 years ago after some not so happy times. I decided to change my life, by starting over in a new city. I love Las Vegas! The weather is generally a tad nicer than Phoenix, but still close enough to go back to see family. Like most people, I like to go out on the town and gamble, see a great show or concert or play tourist for a day. There is always something to do here. I married my husband David 8 years ago. I never, ever had any desire to have children, but he had 4 from a previous marriage, so I instantly became a stepmom!! Wow! When people hear I "have" 4 kids, it sounds like I became a baby machine!! I just don't want to sound like I just popped out kids left and right. NOT for me. Just my choice. My youngest is 15 and the oldest is 23! I also have two small dogs and a cat that I found when I first moved to Vegas! They are my pride and joy! Atleast they don't ask for money or act like they know everything! So much easier. Plus, when the pets are bad, you can put them in cages! Can't do that with kids for some reason. Hmmm...LOL I love to travel to new places. In 2007 we went to London, England and then on to Scotland to golf. It was such a great time. We had the priviledge of staying in a really old house with butlers and chefs. The people there ar...Expand for more
e pleasant and kind. I still want to travel to Italy, so maybe next year. We go to Hawaii atleast once a year to relax. We went to New York last year, and I want to go again this year. I love mixing it up. Beach one trip, high energy of New York the next. Keep it fun & exciting! I recently took up golf. What a frustrating sport. Maybe by the time I'm almost dead, I will be good at it. Atleast I am not as bad as Charles Barkley! His show was hilarious. I still have a lot of family in Arizona, but I don't make it back as much as I'd like. I also have family in Colorado. I moved my mother there! Her choice actually! This may sound cold, but better there than here! Anyone who knew her, would agree! I have three sisters. Two older ones went to Peoria before me. Many people do not know that I have a twin sister (Julie). She went to a different school than me. We were separated when we were only a year old. It's a crazy story. She has 3 kids and is doing well. We are so different though. Even though I could say it's because of the environment we were raised in, or the people in our lives, or the schools we went to...I just think it's all because of our dna. We are almost like day and night in some ways. We really know each other well and turn to each other for support and guidance though. Overall, life is good. I am happy with myself and always trying to improve the person I am. Something I didn't know how to do when I was younger. Life is too short though! I enjoy living it, rather than existing in it. I always wondered how others saw me. I think that I was sweet & extremely naive! I was too trusting, which hurt me. I got my heart broke a couple times. Although I didn't like high school, I had fun. What do you think? I'm not the same person. I have changed a lot/people have changed me. I keep my guard up at all times now. But I am still a great person who stands up for myself and my friends. I have confidence now, where I had none back then! My idea of relaxing is usually taking a nice, long bubble bath or walking on the beach. It's good to clear your head to be able to tackle the obstacles waiting ahead. If we have met, "hi" and I hope you are doing well. Take care! :)
