Donna's Story
Life
After graduating from Canoga, I went to work for Sears in Customer Service. I didn't go to college, which I sometimes regret. My working life has included general office, promotional modeling and sales. While working in the promotional modeling field, I worked for several companies, including Weider Health and Fitness. That was a wonderful job for a young woman, full of travel and fitness.
I lived in Crested Butte, CO for ten years, where I learned to ski. I always said it would take a man to get me out of CA and that's what happened. Living in the moutains and a tiny town was a great experience, but I did the city; and, of course, family and friends.
Several years ago I learned to scuba dive. What an amazing experience to see the beauty beneath the waves; but, now just give me a snorkel and some warm tropical water and I'm happy. In addition to the islands, I enjoy spending time in the desert, going to art and craft shows, gardening (something I learned to do when I returned to CA) and spending time with friends and family. I returned to the valley in the fall of 97; and, yes, the man is here with me.
In September of 2002 I was one of the lucky 25 to attend Darlene Austin Smith's Floozfest, a gathering of Hunters that had not seen each other since graduation. What an amazing day, which kicked off the planning for our 40 Year Reunion. Since we reconnected in 2002, our group of 25 has grown tremendously. We have over 350 names on our list and continue to look for Hunters from from our class. In addition to our class reunions, we gather quite often for small parties, going to dinner or the movies....or just getting together to catch up. The girls have a group called the BOSS...remember that expression from high school?....Expand for more
..we have a grand time when we gather. Please join us.
In between social events and reunion planning, I also do petsitting and housesitting jobs. I have clients from Thousand Oaks to Orange County. If you are looking for someone to care for your pets and home, please contact me for rates and more information.
We are now planning our 50 YEAR REUNION. SAVE THE DATE...SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2014, which is also the 100th BIRTHDAY OF DEAR CANOGA HIGH. There is an entire weekend of events planned, beginning on Friday, October 10th with a Homecoming parade and game against our old rival, Reseda. After the game, a sock hop in the boys gym....I'm so excited about this event. Saturday, October 11th during the day, pancake breakfast, car show, campus open all day, reception for retired teachers, museum open, slide show in Assembly Hall, food trucks available...plan a picnic on the senior lawn. OUR REUNION BEGINS AT 6:00 PM, goes to midnight, WOODLAND HILLS HILTON. Breakfast included on Sunday. All classes are welcome to join us. Many of us have siblings and friends from other classes....please spread the word.
It is important for me to have your e-mail address, so I may send you reunion information and updates, including the atendance list. Right now we have about 215...and we really want you to join us. If you don't have my e-mail, please contact Canoga, go in to their website, click on alumni, then reunion news, my e-mail will be posted. Please put REUNION in the subject box, when you contact me. Also, include your class year; and, ladies, include your maiden name. Thank you. You don't want to miss this event and our dear school's 100th birthday.
I hope everyone is well. Bye for now,
With Hunter Hugs,
Donna
