Jason's Story
Life
What can I say. I have been busy since leaving high school mostly in acedemia. BSc. (Geology) - Acadia University 1996, MSc. - University of Victoria 1998. I am currently doing my PhD in experimental petrology at UVIC.
I am living on Vancouver Island in Victoria and married a woman from Sooke (Melissa) just this year (2005). The whole family was out for the wedding which was held in Lake Cowichan. We have a condo and two cats but no children yet. I am very blessed indeed.
Other than school, I have been working as a research scientist with a crystal growth company here in Victoria. Don;t know anything about crystal growth? Look at a LED (light emitting diode) flashlight....someone grew that LED, it was not mined. I also worked in diamond exploration for a few years in the Acrtic and in Finland.
In my spare time, I can be found paddlin...Expand for more
g outrigger canoes in the inner harbour, golfing, hiking the beautiful trails on the island or playing pickup football. My wife and I are very active paddlers and we actually met on a dragonboat team. Our teams have finished no lower than third in each division over the past year which has been a rewarding experience.
I feel like I truely know myself now and am a very different person than I was in high school. I am very assertative and work hard to make things happen. I no longer pursue things I know I cannot change or are destructive. Life is about living now, not in the past, nor in the future. Maybe these things sound cliche....maybe they are....but I know it to be true.
I hope you all live a good life and your dreams come true. maybe we will cross paths some time again and if so, hopefully we will still recognize one another.
