Jason's Story
Lieutenant Colonial (LTC) Jason Pike hails from Boiling Springs, SC and he graduated from Clemson University at Clemson, SC. Enlisting from the beginning in the SC Army National Guard, he eventually went on to receive a commission from the Reserve Officer Training Corp from Clemson University, Clemson, SC. along with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Agriculture Education from Clemson University. LTC Pike began his officer active duty career in 1992 as a Battalion Chemical Officer in the 10th Special Forces Group. He branch transferred to the Medical Service Corp in 1994 and became a 72B (Entomologist). LTC Pike was assigned as an Executive Officer/Entomologist to the 154 Medical Detachment, 168th Area Support Medical Battalion (ASMB), 18th Medical Command (MEDCOM) in Korea from 1994-1995. Following attendance at the Army Medical Department Advance Course and Preventive Medicine Course, LTC Pike served as an Entomologist at the Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. In 1998 LTC Pike was selected for Long Term Health Education and Training and completed a Master degree of Entomology from Colorado State University. LTC Pike returned to Korea and successfully completed a Command at the 5th Medical Detachment, 168th ASMB, and 18th MEDCOM in Yongsan, Korea. In 2003, he and his family moved from Korea to Fort Belvoir, VA where he served as the Command Entomologist at the Defense Logistics Agency from 2003-2007. He returned to Korea in 2007 and served as Chief Force Health Protection Officer for 8th US Army. In 2010 the Pike family returned back to the United States. From 2011 to 2012 Pike served in combat supporting Operation Enduring Freedom as Commander of the 452nd Medical Detachment in Shindand, Afghanistan. Last tour was in Germany and retired from active service in 2014.
LTC Pikes awards and decorations include the,Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2) , NATO Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), National Defense Service Medal, (one service star), Humanitarian Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal Korea Defense Service medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), the Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon and Army Service Ribbon. He proudly wears the Expert Field Medical Badge along with the Airborne and Air-assault Badges. He achieved the following additional skills in the Army: Strategist, Airborne, Air Assault, Technical Escort, and Master Fitness Trainer.
