Jason's Story
Well, since I graduated, I've kept in touch with very few people from Harding. Matt Hipp and I hung out for a few years; but, I got married...and relationships tend to drift off after that point.
I have a son, Jorik (Scandinavian, not Anglican), he is now 8. I now live in McMinnville,Oregon, by ways of Memphis, TN - Jackson, MS - Memphis, TN - Oklahoma City, OK - Home Now (Pinot Noir Country, U.S.A.)
I ended up finding my spot in restaurants. I have been working in the hospitality industry for the past 14 years. I love it. From October of 2000 until Jan 1st of 2008, I worked in Oklahoma City at a French Bistro, ironically called La Bag...Expand for more
uette. However, the La Baguette Bistro in Oklahoma City was very different than the little sandwich shop in Memphis.
I headed up a 300+ bottle wine list, ranging in prices from $16-$785 a bottle. We had a boucherie, patisserie, fromagerie, boulangerie, charcuterie, and bistro, all under one roof. Whoever said those French classes wouldn't come into play. I had French people asking me questions. "Je bois, donc je suis."
I left La Baguette Bistro in Oklahoma Jan. 1, 2008, to pursue an ambitious goal... to make damn good wine. I am in the process of establishing myself as one of the premier winemakers in the U.S. ( talk to me in 15 years.)
