Jay's Story
Life
I first met my wife, Dawn Bunker, while we were living in the same apartment complex at college. She grew up in Orem. I tried to date her but she wouldn't give me the time of day. About a year later, we ran into each other at the bookstore and after the usual smalltalk she gave me her number. We ended up getting together and started dating seriously. After only 5 months we decided to get married. Our engagement lastest 3 months (not recommended) and FINALLY we were married in the Mt. Timpanogos temple on August 10, 2001. After our honeymoon, we moved to Colonia Juarez, Mexico (a Mormon colony) were Dawn student taught fro 3 months. After arriving home, I spent most of my time looking for a job (see the Workplay section). We had a first baby girl in November 2002 and named her Hannah Jane (middle name is Dawn's mother's name). Two years later in November 2004 we had our second daughter and named her Tristen Diane (middle name is my mother). Life is great!
College
After graduating from high school in 1996, I went to a year and a half of college...Expand for more
at BYU. Then I served a mission in Panama from 1997 to 1999 and returned to BYU. I finished all my courses for a Bachelors degree in Design by the end of Summer 2001. I waited until April 2002 to graduate so I could "walk" with my wife. At this point, I'm not interested in going back to school for a Masters degree. I'm not sure it would benefit me in my career. Maybe sometime down the road, we'll see.
Workplace
During college I worked mostly self-employed as a Web Designer. After graduating I was hired as a Web Designer/Developer for a company called Access Development located in Salt Lake City. I enjoyed working there, despite some issues with my manager and the low pay. After two years, I decided to move on and applied for other jobs. In May 2004, I was hired as a Interface Design Engineer with Northrop Grumman in Colorado Springs, CO. I work on a team that is developing a software application that will help government intelligence and defense agencies. I pretty much make the software look good and work the way users would expect. I enjoy my work.
