Jay's Story
Long story short: Graduated PC in 1975 and attended Park College majoring in Theatre. Met Kathi there and she has been the love of my life for almost 42 years. I became a member of the Reorganized Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints and was ordained a minister in 1980. I left Park in 1978 and married Kathi in 1979 and settled in Michigan.
I worked as a pipe fitter for 10 years and quit to go back to school to finish my degree. I graduated from Missouri Southern College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Education (yes, I commuted between Joplin, Missouri and Michigan for 2 years). I taught Adult Education (High School completion) for 6 years and left the teaching field and entered the world of business becoming a trainer and then an instructional designer for Electronic Data Systems (EDS). er for Municipal Employees Retirement System of Michigan. I am now working as a contractor for various companies having left MERS in 2012. With retirement in sight, Kathi and I are contemplating what we will do when we retire.
Kathi and I have two sons, Joshua, age 35 who is married and living in Warren, Michigan and Jacob, age 30 who still has aspirations of being a rock star but has taken on a job as a CNC operator until his big break comes! :)
I keep busy as the Pastor of the Oakwood Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ's Church (Orthodox RLDS), traveling with Kathi, snooping around antique shops, and playing golf when I get the chance.
Officially retired in November of 2021 after 30 years in education and corporate training and instructional design. I have more time now to pursue my ministry in domestic missionary work and where ever else the Lord leads me!
